Many people like to tell us that the gay rights movement is over, that things are better now, that there’s no more fighting to be done. That’s a lie.

For the first time in perhaps my entire life, I cried re-watching the highlights of this week’s season opening Monday Night Football game.

I do believe in second chances, and third and fourth and fifth chances, but only in circumstances where the possibility of redemption outweighs the atrocity of the past errors.

Nothing lasts forever.
